Man in the long, black blog

About bloody time

18:16 For those of you outside the loop (sorry, I know I haven't told everyone) I'm recovering from a pleural effusion that would have had lesser mortals in hospital (seriously), which seems to have come about from a case of pneumonia. Which is odd, because although it's responded to antibiotics there's none of the green coughy phlegmy stuff one might expect. You needed to know that, right?

And a rousing cheer for Blandford Evangelical Church for sticking to its principles.

Where have all the flowers gone?

21:14 So . . . yes. October - Sophie and Rachel doing far better in school sports than I ever did. The freesias finished flowering and Valerie & Paul came to stay. Lunch at Jordons, which was splendid. Bronte Beach. Tourist rag in Canberra, including Floriade. They then went off to the Red Centre for nearly a week, then back to Sydney before flying home too quickly.

November - Sophie's birthday, swimming at the Olympic Park. Walking around the house wearing her goggles and snorkel and flippers. Asking to go to Canberra to see England play the Prime Minister's XI (I'm so proud). Finally getting to go to Bondi. Realizing I'll need a new diary very soon. Kate getting a video iPod. Working later than usual and getting to see 3801 steam past Redfern.
